Anruda evaluates activewear fabrics using applicable ISO, GB/T and customer-specific test methods. Test conditions and acceptance criteria are selected according to the fabric structure, color, garment application and customer requirements.

TEST 01

Color Fastness to Rubbing

Color fastness to rubbing evaluates whether color may transfer from a dyed or printed fabric surface under dry or wet friction.

For close-fitting activewear, this test helps assess staining risks caused by movement, perspiration, skin contact and friction between garment panels.

Purpose Evaluate dry and wet color transfer caused by rubbing.
Applicable Methods ISO 105-X12, GB/T 3920 or customer-specific methods.
Equipment Crockmeter.
Result Dry and wet staining rating under specified conditions.

How the Color Fastness to Rubbing Test Is Performed

  1. Confirm the Testing Requirement

    The laboratory confirms the applicable test method, fabric color, testing direction, dry or wet condition and required acceptance level.

  2. Select and Condition the Specimen

    Representative fabric specimens are selected, identified and conditioned according to the applicable laboratory procedure.

  3. Prepare the Rubbing Cloth

    A standard white rubbing cloth is prepared for the required dry or wet condition. Wet specimens are prepared according to the specified moisture requirement.

  4. Perform Controlled Rubbing

    The fabric is secured on the crockmeter and rubbed under controlled pressure and movement. Dry and wet tests are conducted separately where required.

  5. Evaluate Color Transfer

    The staining on the white rubbing cloth is assessed using the applicable rating method. The condition, shade and sample information are recorded.

  6. Review and Take Action

    Results are compared with the agreed requirement. If the target is not achieved, dyeing, washing, soaping, finishing or surface conditions may be reviewed before repeat testing and shipment approval.

How Anruda Uses the Results

Rubbing fastness results are reviewed together with the fabric shade, dyeing process, structure and garment application. Dark shades, high-saturation colors and matching activewear sets may require additional process review or verification before bulk fabric is released.

TEST 02

Pilling Resistance Testing

Pilling resistance testing evaluates a fabric’s tendency to develop surface fuzz, pills or matting after repeated friction.

Activewear is particularly exposed to friction around inner thighs, underarms, waistbands and areas that contact equipment or other garment layers.

Purpose Evaluate surface fuzzing, pilling and matting.
Applicable Method ISO 12945-2 modified Martindale method or agreed method.

How the Pilling Resistance Test Is Performed

  1. Confirm Test Conditions

    The laboratory confirms the applicable method, test stages, assessment intervals and acceptance level according to the fabric and customer specification.

  2. Select Representative Specimens

    Specimens are taken from representative fabric areas while avoiding creases, visible defects and damaged sections. Sample identification and direction are recorded.

  3. Condition and Mount the Fabric

    Specimens are conditioned and mounted in the Martindale holders using the required backing, pressure and test configuration.

  4. Apply Controlled Rubbing

    The specimens are exposed to controlled multi-directional rubbing. Testing may be paused at specified intervals to monitor progressive surface changes.

  5. Assess Surface Appearance

    Surface fuzzing, pill formation and matting are assessed under controlled viewing conditions and compared with the applicable visual rating reference.

  6. Record and Review the Result

    The laboratory records the method, specimen information, test stage, visual rating and observations before comparing the result with the agreed requirement.

How Anruda Uses the Results

If pilling performance does not meet the agreed target, yarn selection, knitting density, loop structure, brushing, heat setting or other finishing parameters may be reviewed. The fabric may then be adjusted and retested before bulk approval or shipment.

TEST 03

Abrasion Resistance Testing

Abrasion resistance testing evaluates how well a fabric withstands repeated surface friction before visible wear, yarn damage or structural breakdown occurs.

This performance is particularly relevant to cycling apparel, gym wear and garments that repeatedly contact seats, benches, straps, equipment or rough surfaces.

Purpose Evaluate repeated abrasion and fabric breakdown.
Applicable Method ISO 12947-2 Martindale method or customer-specific method.
Equipment Martindale abrasion tester.
Result Abrasion cycles and condition at the defined end point.

How the Abrasion Resistance Test Is Performed

  1. Define the Test Requirement

    The laboratory confirms the applicable method, test pressure, abrasive material, inspection interval, breakdown definition and target performance level.

  2. Prepare Representative Specimens

    Fabric specimens are selected, identified and conditioned while avoiding wrinkles, damaged areas or distortion that could affect the result.

  3. Mount the Specimens

    The specimens are mounted securely in the Martindale holders using the specified backing and pressure. The abrasive surface is prepared according to the test method.

  4. Run the Martindale Test

    Specimens are exposed to repeated multi-directional abrasion under controlled conditions. The machine is stopped at specified intervals for inspection.

  5. Identify the End Point

    Testing continues until the agreed inspection stage or defined breakdown criterion is reached. Abrasion cycles and fabric condition are documented.

  6. Compare with the Requirement

    The result is compared with the customer specification, approved development standard or garment application. Surface wear, yarn damage and structural changes are recorded.
